Some statues/monuments that are still standing today are Old Brooklyn Meeting House located in Brooklyn, Connecticut. A meeting house was paid for by the members of the community, their taxes went to good use! It also, served for religious worship and town business. These were originally formed in New England and was the main focus of the town. These were like our modern day city halls. Most were white with very simple patterns and windows, that weren't stained. Many were built by the Puritans, since they got kicked out!
Above is the Old Brooklyn Meeting House, built in 1771 by the Puritans.
Another statue that is still standing today is the John Parker statue. John Parker was a colonial farmer, mechanic, and a soldier who commanded the Lexington militia on April 19, 1775. This piece of artwork was sculpted by Henry Hudson Kitson. On the monument he engraved “Stand your ground. Don’t fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here,” although this quote was written in the 1800’s, not 1775. On the left The John Parker Statue created by Henry Hudson Kitson in 1775.
On the left, is the statue John Park created in 1775. Again, there are many, many more structures that are still standing today but, these are just a few!
